i dont really watch malay films because i don't find them anywhere near intriguing.
but yasmin ahmad proves me wrong.
from the time i watched sepet...
i asked myself..
"who is this yasmin ahmad?
and how come i never heard her name before and this film is really beautiful."
i never had enough of her after that.
i watched sepet for 5 times.
then i watched the sequel of sepet after that.
gubra that is.
if sepet means chinese slit eyes in malay.
gubra means anxiety.
and there's rabun way before sepet.
and...everyone will love all her story! most people does!
she makes thought-provoking honest movies which has everything in one.
open-minded yet conservative.
stories that u know that it happens in our everyday life..
stories that u can really feel...
that viewers will give a nod on their head and thumbs up for giving such good powerful lasting impression on them.
im sure you have never seen what yasmin has done in gubra in any other malaysian film.
and u'll be surprised that the quality of her work is way better than other commercialised film-makers u've heard.
you people better catch it!
the story is good in playing with people's emotion.
gubra is not just a love story.
it is also a mixed on what it means to love,to live and to have faith.
and to live in a multi-racial society.
she's aware of the criticisms that she's gonna face..yet she's brave enough to feature this kind of film.
maybe because she knows what she's doing!
i envy her so much.
and the most interesting part is...this film starts with..
"In the name of God, the most loving, the most compassionate".
like how i started this entry with..only that mine is the uglier version!

based from the stories she produces...
she's the most honest malay film-maker i ever know and she's been doing a really outstanding job with the film industry.
yes.malaysia film industry that is.
so i was thinking when is singapore ever gonna make a remarkable and honest story like that?
i dont think yasmin's work can ever matched with any 5 of singapore's best film.
no.im not looking down at our own people's work.
but then..its obvious.
best film-maker?hmmm.
i dont even know it.or maybe..im not aware of it.
forgive me for that.
i dont mean by the best...but the honest,daring,unique one.
the one who gives and shows a different.
just my 2 cents worth.somehow this is what i want to do in future.
yeap.i've been wanting to work in the entertainment industry.
insya'allah.
if i dont get this in future...maybe bukan rezeki.
and therefore,i should try harder!
oh well..no matter what..i will still be and always be an arts enthusiasts.
i appreciate things like these the most.
but i know the risk of being in the entertainment line.
that is why i love making friends with anyone be it on the streets or in the industry.
to know and understand more.
no i dont want to be known.
its freaking hard to be someone that everyone know who you are.
i just want people to know my work.that's all.

whats makes a difference in one's masterpiece (especially arts in general like films,dance,poetry,fine arts,photography) is whether it says more than what you see, hear and feel..
if the piece speaks from the heart, it'll reach the heart and that's what's gonna matter.
this explains why both sepet and gubra won the best film in malaysia film festival for two consecutive years!they beat other commercialised and expensive movies!
that even the 1 million box-office movie of puteri gunung ledang lose to sepet!
its all about making people to feel it.
from the heart to the heart.
